Lignitec develops next-generation bio-based materials designed to replace conventional panels used in furniture and construction. Many traditional boards depend on synthetic, fossil-based adhesives that can contain harmful substances and contribute to indoor air pollution throughout a product’s lifetime. Beyond their impact on indoor health, these materials are difficult to recycle at end-of-life. The permanent bonding of petrochemical resins to wood fibres limits circular reuse, leaving incineration or landfill as the most common outcomes. We believe a better solution is possible.

By valorising agricultural, horticultural and industrial by-streams, we transform underused biomass into durable, carbon-storing building materials.
